Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved the fastest team fifty in the history of Test cricket. The pair accumulated 51 runs in just 18 deliveries during India’s first innings in the second and final Test against Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur.
Rohit Sharma was dismissed after scoring 23 runs off 11 balls, which featured three sixes and a four. His batting partner, Yashasvi, remained unbeaten with a score of 63 runs from 39 balls, including 11 fours and 2 sixes.
Meanwhile, Jaiswal reached his half-century in just 31 balls, making it the fastest fifty by an Indian opener in Test cricket. Overall, it ranks as the third fastest, with Rishabh Pant holding the top spot.
Earlier, Mominul Haque scored a century for Bangladesh, helping the team put up a total of 233 runs in their first innings. Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets, while Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Akash Deep each took two wickets.
Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket, reaching a total of 300 wickets in Test cricket.
