KL Rahul was one of the big names sold in the IPL 2025 auction. Delhi Capitals (DC) bought him for Rs 14 crore. Rahul left Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after being their captain for three years. After he left, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka said he kept only players who put the team first. Now, as Rahul joins DC, the team’s co-owner, Parth Jindal, said Rahul wants “love and respect” from his new team.
What Parth Jindal Told KL Rahul?
In an interview with ESPNCricinfo, Parth Jindal said, “So he (Rahul) was like, “I just want to play cricket. I just want to get the love and support from the franchise. I just want to get the respect and I know Parth from you, I will get that. I just can’t be more excited to play for a friend and make Delhi win. I have never won (IPL). Delhi has never won. Let’s do it together.”
Jindal shared that he already knew Rahul because Rahul is from Bengaluru, and Jindal owns the Bengaluru FC football team.
“He’s very happy, very excited to be part of Delhi. He has known me for a long time. He’s a Bangalore (Bengaluru) boy. I own Bengaluru FC (in the Indian Super League), so he’s watched a few games with me. I know his wife Athiya (Shetty) really well. She’s been a close family friend growing up in Mumbai,” said Jindal.
Delhi Capitals also parted ways with an Indian star, Rishabh Pant, who left the team after nine years before the IPL 2025 mega auction. Interestingly, Pant joined LSG, which was Rahul’s old team.
