Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra praised Rishabh Pant’s batting prowess in Test cricket. While talking about the approach of Rishabh Pant in red-ball cricket, Chopra initially expected Pant to dominate the T20 format. However, he noted that Pant has been excelling in Test cricket, drawing a comparison to Virender Sehwag’s impact in the format.

Rishabh Pant is among the finest batsmen in Test cricket and played a pivotal role in leading India to a historic victory against Australia at the Gabba.

Chopra pointed out that Pant’s journey mirrors Virender Sehwag, one of India’s all-time great Test batsmen, who also found tremendous success in the format.

“He reminds me of Virender Sehwag. When you watched him bat, you felt he would become the T20 king but he shone the most in Test cricket. Rishabh Pant has a similar story. It seems he would destroy the bowlers in T20 games, but he doesn’t allow the bowlers to dominate him in Tests,” Aakash Chopra said in Colours Cineplex.

Pant said that it was not an easy task for anyone to make a comeback and hit runs like this as Pant did against Bangladesh.

“Comebacks are always more difficult than playing your debut game because you have already gone through a lot. People start judging you quickly when you return to the game. Pant’s comeback was due to some other reason,” Chopra added.

In this match, Rishabh Pant hit his sixth hundred of his Test match career and at the same time stitched a partnership of 167 runs with Shubman Gill.
