Famous former Pakistan cricket player Wasim Akram has given high praise to Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant for his strong comeback to Test cricket.

Rishabh Pant returned to Test cricket after more than 600 days during a home match against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

It seemed like he had never been away, as he scored an important 39 runs in the first innings after India lost Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill for low scores. Pant formed a partnership of 62 runs with Yashasvi Jaiswal and helped India recover from the early setbacks.

In the second innings, Pant roared with the bat and scored a cracking century, finishing with 109 runs off 128 balls, which included 13 fours and 4 sixes. With this, he has equaled MS Dhoni’s record for the most centuries (6) by an Indian wicketkeeper-batsman in Test matches.

His outstanding century in his comeback match reignited discussions about whether he is the greatest Indian wicketkeeper-batsman in Test cricket history. Many experts are now placing Rishabh Pant ahead of MS Dhoni in these rankings.

However, Akram did not share any verdict on the MS Dhoni vs Rishabh Pant debate but he praised the comeback of Pant and claimed him a ‘Superhuman’.

“Look at Pant’s performance, the miracle that he has performed by showing he is superhuman by returning from his tragedy. The way his accident happened, we were all worried in Pakistan, I was worried and tweeted about him.”

Akram further said that Pant has been a heroic cricketer for his team and already proved his caliber against Australia and England.

“The way he used to play in Test cricket, the way he performed in Australia with the century then. The way he batted against England, playing a reverse sweep against James Anderson in Test cricket, and even Pat Cummins. He’s special,” Akram said.
