Today in cricket history, fast Indian bowler Mohammed Shami was born on September 3, 1990, in the Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh. Shami has been exceptional for India in all three formats since his debut against Pakistan.
The right-arm pacer began his international career in 2013, making his debut in both ODIs and Test cricket. His dynamic bowling, marked by his ability to swing the ball both ways made him an important player for India.
Shami has been a crucial part of India’s bowling lineup across all formats. He was a standout performer in the 2015 Cricket World Cup and has played a key role in India’s Test victories, especially in tough conditions abroad.
In domestic cricket, Shami has played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings in the IPL. His consistent performance and skillful bowling make him a key player for the Indian team, contributing significantly with both pace and swing.
In the IPL, Shami looked revamped after joining the Gujarat Titans in 2022. Over two seasons, he took 48 wickets, helping the team reach two finals and win one of them.
In the 2019 ODI World Cup, Shami bowled a sensational spell and grabbed a hat trick against Afghanistan. He did this feat during the 2019 World Cup in Southampton. Despite Afghanistan’s steady progress in their run chase, Shami changed the momentum by dismissing Mohammad Nabi, Aftab Alam, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
