Gerald Coetzee broke the ICC Code of Conduct during the 4th T20I match between South Africa and India in their recent series. He was found guilty of violating Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Support Staff during the game. The decision came after the bowler was found dissenting from the umpire’s decision.
The incident occurred when Coetzee said something inappropriate to the umpire after one of his balls was called a ‘wide.’ As a result, he was officially warned and given one demerit point on his record. Coetzee accepted his mistake and agreed to the punishment given by Andy Pycroft from the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so no formal hearing was needed.
