The England and Wales Cricket Board has announced the squad for the upcoming Test series in Pakistan. Captain Ben Stokes and batter Zak Crawley, who both missed the Sri Lanka series due to injuries, are back for the three-match series against Pakistan.

Stokes sat out the Sri Lanka series after getting injured during The Hundred, while Crawley was sidelined after suffering a finger injury during England’s 10-wicket victory over the West Indies in the final Test of that series.

Brydon Carse has been included in the 17-player squad, just weeks after being banned for betting issues. The bowling all-rounder has experience in both white-ball formats but hasn’t played a Test yet. Spinners Jack Leach and Rehan Ahmed have been brought back for the subcontinent conditions, with both last playing a Test in India earlier this year.

England’s Test squad for Pakistan series:

Ben Stokes (capt), Rehan Ahmed, Gus Atkinson, Shoaib Bashir, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Jordan Cox, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Josh Hull, Jack Leach, Ollie Pope, Matthew Potts, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Olly Stone, Chris Woakes
