The young Indian wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel has made a special record in the ongoing Duleep Trophy. He equaled the record of the former Indian legendary captain MS Dhoni.

Dhruv Jurel has equaled a significant record held by MS Dhoni for the most catches by a wicketkeeper in a single innings of the Duleep Trophy. Dhoni originally set the benchmark while playing for East Zone in the 2004-05 domestic season. Jurel matched this achievement during India A’s opening match against India B in the 2024-25 Duleep Trophy in Bengaluru.

The 23-year-old wicket-keeper, who recently made his Test debut against England at home, has had a successful start to his international career. In the three Test matches he played, he scored 190 runs at an impressive average of 63.33, including one half-century. His performance with both the bat and behind the stumps has been outstanding.

Dhruv Jurel played a crucial role in the second innings by catching several key players from India B, including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Nitish Reddy, Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Navdeep Saini, and R Sai Kishore, leading to their dismissals.

So far, his performance with the bat in the Duleep Trophy has been underwhelming. He scored just 2 runs in the first innings and was out for a duck on the very first ball of the second innings.
