The five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) recently shared a mysterious tweet, leaving fans guessing about which players the team might keep for the next season. The BCCI has given all IPL teams until October 31 to turn in their lists of retained players before the big auction.
CSK, now led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, is one of the most loved IPL teams, especially because of their former captain MS Dhoni, who took them to five championships. CSK’s recent tweet, filled with emojis, got fans talking about which players they think the team will keep.
The tweet included emojis that fans believe stand for certain players. The helicopter emoji is thought to represent MS Dhoni, hinting he might come back in his iconic yellow CSK jersey.
The kiwi fruit emoji likely points to a New Zealand player, such as Rachin Ravindra or Devon Conway. The sword and horse emojis seem to refer to Ravindra Jadeja, as fans know he celebrates his fifties by swinging his bat like a sword and also loves horses. These hints have sparked lots of excitement and guesses on social media!
Next year’s IPL mega auction will happen outside India because of the busy wedding season in the country.
In CSK’s retention list, Ravindra Jadeja is expected to be the top pick, with the current captain Ruturaj Gaikwad in the second spot. Fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana is set to be the third retained player. CSK will also likely keep two players from Shivam Dube, Devon Conway, and Samir Rizvi.
