The first Test match of the five-match Border-Gavaskar trophy is going to start on November 22 in Perth. This series is going to be important for both the teams as it will decide the fate of both India and Australia in the ongoing World Test Championship. Meanwhile, the former Australian spinner Brad Hogg has predicted his winner for the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
The chinaman spinner Hogg has said that Australia is going to have an upper hand in the series and they are going to beat India 3-2. He feels that Australian bowlers have a very good experience with their bowling and they are going to create a lot of problem on tough pitches.
Hogg Prediction On The Winner of Border-Gavaskar Trophy
“I think you have got to favour Australia 3-2 at least because we are playing Perth, in Brisbane, then Adelaide with the night-ball test. I just think with our pace attack now, with the experience they have, the knowledge of Australian conditions, they should get on top with a more experienced pace attack,” Hogg told RevSportz.
Australia last won a Test series against India in the 2014-15 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, nearly 10 years ago. Since then, India has dominated, winning two series at home and two in Australia.
While people are debating whether Ravichandran Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja should play the first Test, Hogg thinks both should be in India’s team for the match on the green Perth pitch. He feels their experience will be important.

In the same interaction, Hogg added, “I think both Ashwin and Jadeja should play. Jadeja is very good in the first innings, I think with the ball skidding on over here with the greener wickets, but as the wicket wears down, this is where Ashwin comes into it, so they have got two spinners that are unique in a sense that they are going to give the team benefit on the different days of the Test match.”
India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel has hinted that 21-year-old all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy could make his debut in the first Test against Australia in Perth. In a pre-match press conference, Morkel praised Reddy’s skills and flexibility, saying he is a player who can “hold one end up” and offer important support to India’s pace attack during the tough five-Test series.
