Former Indian legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar has given his prediction on the star Indian wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan. He said that Delhi Capitals may consider Kishan as a replacement for Rishabh Pant and could bid between 15 to 20 crores for the Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batter.
Ishan Kishan Performance for Mumbai Indians
Kishan has played for Mumbai Indians for the last three seasons where he has opened the batting for the team along with Rohit Sharma. However, his performance in the 2024 season wasn’t great and he scored only 320 runs in 14 matches.
After being released by the 5-time champions, Ishan Kishan is now part of the auction, along with Rishabh Pant. Since Delhi Capitals are looking for a new captain, Gavaskar believes they might go after Kishan.
Gavaskar Prediction On Ishan Kishan’s Future
Speaking to Star Sports, Gavaskar said that Delhi Capitals will probably try hard to sign Kishan and could offer him a big amount. Gavaskar is sure that Kishan has the ability to change a game with his hard-hitting batting abilities.
“I feel Delhi will try very hard to get Ishan Kishan. They might be ready to pay 15 to 20 crores for Ishan Kishan because we have seen that Ishan Kishan has the ability to change the complexion of the game in T20 cricket because of the way he bats,” said Gavaskar.
Kishan was bought by MI for a huge amount of Rs 15.25 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
According to some fans and cricket experts, Punjab Kings are the top contenders to get Rishabh Pant as they have the highest purse left for the IPL auction.
“With Delhi not retaining Rishabh Pant, they will look for a wicketkeeper-batter as well. Punjab has possibly got the biggest purse so far when they go into the auction. So Punjab will also make a play for Ishan Kishan,” said Gavaskar.
The mega auction for IPL 2024-25 will take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
