The India National Cricket Team has made an important addition to their squad for the final Test match against New Zealand. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has added fast bowler Harshit Rana for the third game and he might make his Test debut.
The third Test between India and New Zealand will begin on Friday, November 1, at the famous Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Although the series result is already decided, this last game is a good chance for both teams to show their players’ skills.
Harshit Rana was added to the Indian team because of his strong performances in the Ranji Trophy. Playing for Delhi, the fast bowler impressed with both his bowling and batting, helping his team win the game.
In that Ranji Trophy match, Rana took five wickets and scored a fifty while batting at No. 8. He was first included as a reserve player for India’s New Zealand series but was later released to play in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, where he made a strong impact with his all-around performance.
Rana has also been selected for India’s squad in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He has been traveling a lot with the Indian team recently, and he might make his debut in the third Test against New Zealand.
Reports say that Rana could play his first match for India in the final Test against New Zealand. Recently, India added Washington Sundar to the squad, and he was put directly into the playing XI. If the same approach is used, Rana might also get his Test debut.
Rana first gained attention with his excellent performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders. In the tournament, the right-arm fast bowler took 19 wickets in 13 matches, making him the top wicket-taker among uncapped players and fifth overall.
